Clinical Role
Join a highly respected anesthesia team in Roanoke, Virginia, providing anesthesia services within a Level I Trauma Center caring for complex surgical patients. This full-time locums opportunity offers guaranteed weekly hours, flexible scheduling options, and the ability to become an integral part of the permanent anesthesia team. Locum CRNAs are treated the same as permanent providers and receive equivalent permissions and access.
Assignment Details
Start Date:
October 2026
Contract Length:
6-month contract with option to extend
Long-term assignments preferred (6-12 months or longer)
Current locum providers have remained onsite for up to five years.
Credentialing:
Approximately 100 days
Can potentially be completed within 75 days if provider remains current with paperwork requirements.
Coverage Requirements:
Full-time coverage required
40 hours per week guaranteed
Schedule:
Available shift options:
- Five 8-hour shifts per week
- Five 10-hour shifts per week
Overtime applies after scheduled shift completion.
Schedule Notes:
- Continuous provider coverage required
- 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off schedules will not be considered
- Flexible with reasonable time-off requests

Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Practice Setting:
Hospital-Based Anesthesia Department
Level I Trauma Center
Patient Population:
Adult and pediatric surgical patients
Highly complex cases
Case Mix:
- Neurosurgery
- Orthopedics
- Trauma
- General Surgery
- Gynecology
- Endoscopy
- Pediatrics
Cases Excluded:
- Cardiac anesthesia
- Obstetrical anesthesia
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide independent anesthesia care within the anesthesia care team model
- Manage complex surgical patients
- Perform preoperative anesthesia evaluations
- Administer general and regional anesthesia as appropriate
- Monitor intraoperative patient care
- Provide postoperative anesthesia management
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and perioperative staff
- Document anesthesia care using Epic EMR

Requirements
- Board Certified CRNA - Required
- Active Virginia Medical License - Required
- Providers requiring Virginia licensure will be considered
- Ability to commit to full-time coverage - Required
- Long-term assignment availability preferred
Credentialing
Approximately 100 days expected.
Providers who stay current with credentialing requirements may be credentialed within approximately 75 days.
