Position Overview
An academic healthcare organization is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide inpatient pediatric neurosurgery coverage. This role focuses on patient management, care coordination, and discharge planning within a collaborative neurosurgical team.
Compensation:
Hourly: $140/hr
Overtime: $140/hr
Holiday: $195/hr
Assignment Details
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Schedule
Three 13-hour shifts per week
6:00 AM 7:00 PM
No nights
No holidays
Weekend coverage may be included
Practice Setting
Inpatient hospital setting
Academic teaching environment
Epic EMR
Resident-supported neurosurgery service
Patient Population
Pediatric patients
Clinical Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:
Daily rounding with residents and neurosurgery team
Reviewing and implementing treatment plans
Managing orders and care coordination
Evaluating patients requiring follow-up
Assisting with discharge planning and transitions of care
Ongoing inpatient pediatric neurosurgical patient management
Procedures & Skills
Preferred experience with:
Hemovac drain removal
JP drain removal
Operating Room Responsibilities
No operating room duties
Residents assist with surgical procedures
Role is strictly inpatient patient care and management
Qualifications
Required
Board Certified Nurse Practitioner
Active Massachusetts license
Minimum of 1 year of neurosurgery experience
Epic EMR experience
Preferred
Pediatric neurosurgery experience
Experience managing pediatric inpatient neurosurgical patients
Comfort with drain management and removal
Credentialing
Estimated credentialing timeframe: approximately 90 days
Massachusetts license required at presentation
No licensing assistance available
