  • Case Mix: General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, and OB/GYN
  • Patient Ratio: 1:10-15

  • Medication Dispensing System: Pyxis
  • Support Staff Available: Anesthesia, NP, LPN
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

REQUIRED PROCEDURES
  • Surgical First Assist
  • Robotic Surgery
  • General Surgery procedures
  • Orthopedic procedures (preferred)
  • OB/GYN procedures, including C-sections
  • Hip fracture cases
  • Cauterization
  • Hemostasis
  • Wound closure (sutures, staples, adhesives)
  • Surgical suction, drainage, and irrigation
  • Patient positioning and immobilization
  • Medical/Surgical floor rounding
  • Order management
  • Progress notes
  • Consults and discharges
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Licenses: Active New York license required
  • Board: Board Certified
  • Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, and ATLS required
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent Surgical First Assist experience
  • EMR: Epic experience required
  • Other Qualifications: Robotics experience required; Orthopedic experience strongly preferred
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide Surgical First Assist coverage in the operating room
  • Provide Medical/Surgical floor coverage
  • Round on hospitalized patients
  • Manage patient orders, consults, and discharges
  • Assist with General Surgery, Orthopedic, and OB/GYN cases
  • Participate in weekend and weekday call coverage
  • Document patient care accurately in Epic
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams
