Director of Psychiatry (PMHNP)

Compensation: $200-250K Annual

Overview

The Director of Psychiatry is the clinical architect of Nao Medical's mental health service line. This role is responsible for the overall clinical "health" of the department. You are the final authority on psychiatric safety, the lead mentor for all behavioral health providers, and the strategic partner to the executive team. Your goal is to build a department that is clinically rigorous, operationally efficient, and a destination of choice for top-tier providers. By leveraging AI-assisted charting, you will lead a department that eliminates administrative friction, allowing you and your team to focus on high-level strategy and compassionate patient care.

Roles & Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Governance

Establish and maintain evidence-based clinical protocols and psychiatric standards of

care across the network.

Serve as the final clinical authority on complex cases, risk management, and patient

safety initiatives.

Lead Quality Improvement (QI) programs and peer reviews to ensure high-efficacy

treatment outcomes.

Oversee the expansion of clinical services, such as interventional psychiatry or

specialized outpatient programs.

Provider Management & Mentorship

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a team of Psychiatrists, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners

(PMHNPs), and clinical staff.

Foster a collaborative and emotionally resilient team culture, focusing on professional

growth and clinical excellence.

Participate in the recruitment and onboarding of new psychiatric providers to ensure

alignment with Nao Medical's mission.

Strategic Integration & Innovation

Collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer to integrate mental health services into

primary care and other specialty hubs.

Serve as the clinical lead for the adoption of AI-assisted charting and diagnostic tools to

maximize departmental efficiency.

Analyze departmental KPIs (patient access, satisfaction, and outcomes) to drive

operational growth and efficiency.

Clinical Duties

Maintain a reduced clinical panel, conducting comprehensive evaluations and

medication management for high-complexity cases.

Set the standard for patient-centered care by modeling compassionate, evidence-based

clinical practice.

Utilize Nao Medical's digital platforms to deliver both in-person and virtual psychiatric

consultations.

Other Duties

Represent the psychiatry department in executive leadership meetings and monthly

provider syncs.

Stay current with industry trends, New York State regulations, and emerging

technologies in psychiatric medicine.

Demonstrate professional leadership and emotional resilience in high-stress clinical or

administrative situations.

Required Training, Certifications, or Credentials

5-7+ years of clinical experience, with at least 3 years in a formal clinical leadership role

(e.g., Director, Dept. Chair, or Lead Physician).

Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric Mental Health

(PMHNP).

Active New York State Medical License.

Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner(PMHNP-BC) via

ANCC.

Valid Federal DEA Registration and Medication Administration Training (MAT)

Certificate.

BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Infection Control Certifications.

Suboxone Certification (preferred/a plus)

Compensation

Base Salary: $200,000 - $260,000 (based on experience and schedule).
