Dermatology Physician Assistant (PA) - Medical Dermatology

Location: Tabor City, North Carolina
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

A growing rural health dermatology practice is seeking a compassionate and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with a background in medical dermatology to join its collaborative clinical team.
This position focuses exclusively on medical dermatology and is ideal for a provider who values continuity of care, patient education, and improving access to dermatologic services in underserved communities.
The provider will diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of medically necessary skin conditions while working closely with supervising physicians to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive dermatologic evaluations, including full-body skin examinations

  • Diagnose and manage common and chronic dermatologic conditions including:

    • Acne

    • Eczema

    • Psoriasis

    • Rosacea

    • Dermatitis

    • Fungal infections

    • Rashes

  • Identify and treat precancerous and cancerous lesions including:

    • Actinic Keratosis (AK)

    • Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC)

    • Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC)

    • Melanoma

  • Perform dermatologic procedures including:

    • Shave biopsies

    • Punch biopsies

    • Excisional biopsies

    • Cryotherapy

    • Lesion removal

    • Wound care and post-procedure management

  • Order, review, and interpret dermatopathology and diagnostic testing

  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians

  • Prescribe medications and therapies according to clinical guidelines

  • Educate patients on skin health, disease prevention, and treatment expectations.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree from an accredited NP or PA program

  • Active North Carolina NP or PA license

  • National certification:

    • AANP or ANCC for Nurse Practitioners

    • NCCPA for Physician Assistants

  • Minimum 1 year of dermatology experience required

  • Strong diagnostic and procedural skills

  • Excellent communication and patient education abilities

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical setting

Preferred

  • Dermatology certification (DCNP or equivalent) or willingness to pursue certification

  • Experience performing dermatologic procedures

  • Familiarity with dermatoscopy and EMR systems

  • Interest in rural health and long-term patient care relationships
