Locum Tenens Trauma APP California (Bay Area)

Location: Oakland, CA
Facility: Level 1 Trauma Center (Busy Bay Area hospital)
Start Date: 8/3/2026
Contract Length: Ongoing
Schedule:

• 3x12s (7a 7p) may consider 5x8s
• Mix of days, nights, and weekends
• Minimum 4 weekend shifts/month required
• No Call

• Full-time coverage needed
• APP will work across ED, floor, and ICU
• Manage critically ill trauma patients throughout continuum of care
• Patients per day:
  • Floor: (shared with resident)
  • Clinic: 20/day
• Trauma activations: 5 12 per shift
• Patient population: Ages
• EMR: Epic

• High-acuity trauma care in one of the busiest trauma centers in the Bay Area
• Exposure to:
  • Shock management
  • ACS, stroke
  • Neurosurgery & orthopedics (plus)
• Hands-on procedures highly preferred:
  • Arterial lines
  • Central lines
  • Chest tubes

• Active CA License (in hand at submission)
• DEA (CA)
• Certifications: BLS & ACLS (required)
• ATLS: Must be willing to obtain within 1 year
• Experience:
  • Minimum 1 year trauma experience
  • Level 1 trauma experience strongly preferred
  • ICU experience = huge plus
  • Backgrounds considered: Trauma, ICU, ED, Neurosurgery, Ortho
• No OR / First Assist-only backgrounds

This is a high-acuity, hands-on trauma role ideal for experienced APPs who thrive in fast-paced environments and want broad exposure across ED, ICU, and inpatient trauma care.
