JOB SUMMARY
The Radiographer Lead demonstrates competence in the area of general radiography and fluoroscopy. Assigns staff to work assignments and coordinates equipment maintenance throughout the NCH Comprehensive Health. Acts as a liaison for patient care activities with outside departments ensuring correct orders and protocols are being followed. Observes activities of staff, sets expectations, coaches and counsels.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
Produces images which demonstrate a thorough knowledge of radiographic technique (collimation, ID markers, and patient demographics), anatomical positioning, protocols, and equipment performance.
Responsible for the clinical instruction, supervision, evaluation, orientation, counseling and documentation associated with the clinical experience of the staff.
Trains new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices. Ensures all staff are trained to work at any site, any shift, including holidays and taking call responsibility as required.
Assures timely accomplishment of assignments and ensures they meet organizational objectives.
Instructs employees in specific tasks and job techniques, making sure protocols are accurate and followed.
Follows standard precautions.
Ensuring accuracy of patient orders and contacting appropriate providers for corrections.
Monitoring and ordering supplies as needed, including contrast agents
Resolves simple informal complaints of staff and refers others to Radiology Administration.
Observes and addresses Radiation Protection concerns and follows JCAHO and The State of Florida Department of Health regulations and codes for compliance, bringing repetitive concerns to the RSO/Leadership team.
Demonstrates support and follows policies for the Radiography Student Program.
Provides all aspects of patient care based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment of the patients.
Adequate assessment of department and staffing levels maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Participates in the review and interview process.
Maintain all equipment in good operating condition, placing service tickets, making sure all repairs are completed in an acceptable timeframe.
Completes staff evaluations in a timely manner.
Directs, motivates and guides staff to efficiently complete procedures while delivering excellent and safe patient care.
Demonstrates competency and advanced applications using the Radiographic Information Systems, EMR, and PACS.
Responsible for helping provide radiation monitoring and education.
Demonstrates competency in Departmental communication (telephone, rovers, Haiku, Amion).
Maintains clean and well stocked work area.
Assists with annual lead apron integrity checks. Track down missing lead aprons and shields.
Assists in training and orientation of new employees. Ensures each new employee completed new employee checklists and department orientation.
Strives to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all employees.
Maintains a professional and positive work culture, resolving informal complaints, referring others to Radiology Leadership
Meets and exceeds the expectations of patients and all other customers we serve.
Actively assists and supports departmental activities to ensure that operational and salary expenses are equal to or less than approved budget.
Understands the principles and concepts of Performance Improvement. Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvements and seeks to improve job skills.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School or GED required.
Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in an approved school.
Licensed as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the State of Florida.
ARRT registered in R (Radiography).
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiographer.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Intermediate computer knowledge: Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
