Position Summary

The Circuit Breaker Technician is responsible for the testing, diagnosis, repair, rebuilding, and certification of low- and medium-voltage circuit breakers in a production environment. This position plays a critical role in ensuring circuit breakers meet company quality standards and customer expectations before shipment.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, highly organized, detail-oriented, and committed to producing quality work. Success in this role requires the ability to follow standardized testing and repair procedures, maintain accurate documentation, and consistently perform repetitive technical tasks with precision and attention to detail.

Previous experience with electrical equipment, industrial maintenance, repair, or manufacturing is preferred but not required. Training will be provided for candidates who demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude, dependability, and a willingness to learn.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Circuit Breaker Testing & Certification

  • Conduct functional testing of circuit breakers using stationary shop testing equipment to verify performance, reliability, and operational integrity.
  • Evaluate breaker operation against company testing standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Identify defects, performance issues, wear patterns, and operational irregularities.
  • Document testing procedures, results, and findings accurately and completely.
  • Verify compliance with quality and safety standards before approving units for shipment.
  • Troubleshoot failed test results and determine required repairs or adjustments.

Circuit Breaker Repair & Rebuilding

  • Disassemble circuit breakers for inspection, cleaning, repair, and refurbishment.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues affecting breaker performance.
  • Replace worn, damaged, or defective components as required.
  • Perform adjustments, recalibrations, and rebuild procedures to restore proper functionality.
  • Reassemble and retest breakers to verify successful repair and compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain consistency and accuracy throughout the rebuilding process.
  • Collaborate with production and quality personnel to identify recurring failures and improve repair processes.

Quality Control & Documentation

  • Maintain detailed records of testing, repairs, rebuilds, inspections, and equipment history.
  • Complete work orders, repair reports, and quality documentation accurately and on time.
  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Report defects, process concerns, and quality issues to management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, and reliability.

Inventory & Material Handling Support

  • Receive, inspect, unpack, and organize incoming circuit breakers and electrical equipment.
  • Remove breakers from panelboards, switchboards, and other electrical distribution equipment.
  • Assist with inventory control and organization of parts, tools, and consumable materials.
  • Report low inventory levels and assist with maintaining adequate stock of repair components.
  • Operate forklifts and material-handling equipment safely when required.
  • Load and unload trucks while following company safety procedures.

Shop Operations & Team Support

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area at all times.
  • Properly care for and maintain tools, testing equipment, and workstations.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment as assigned.
  • Coordinate with shipping and logistics personnel to ensure completed breakers are packaged and prepared for shipment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding production priorities and job status.
  • Assist with additional production-related duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electrical repair, industrial maintenance, manufacturing, production, or mechanical assembly environments preferred.
  • Experience testing, troubleshooting, repairing, or rebuilding electrical or mechanical equipment is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work with hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
  • Forklift experience or willingness to become forklift certified.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and recordkeeping.

  • Ability to use hands and tools for extended periods.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, kneel, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to perform repetitive inspection, testing, and assembly tasks.
  • Ability to lift and move electrical equipment weighing up to 60 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment and forklifts.
  • Ability to work safely around electrical equipment and production machinery.



Work Environment

  • Shop-based production and repair environment.
  • Frequent use of testing equipment, hand tools, and electrical components.
  • Exposure to warehouse and non-climate-controlled areas.
