Gynecology Physician
The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System (OCVAHCS) is actively recruiting a board-certified, board-eligible full-time permanent hospital employed as a Gynecology Surgeon to join our Women s health department. The Gynecology Surgeon is accountable to the Chief of Surgery. Gynecologist is responsible for providing medical care to women relating to pregnancy or childbirth; responsible for treating, testing, diagnosing and monitoring diseases and provide general care to women. Additional duties include:
- Provide care and treatment to women during prenatal, natal, and postnatal periods.
- Diagnose, treat, and monitor diseases, disorders, and conditions.
- Prescribe appropriate medications to treat patients in accordance with standardized procedures and VA policy.
- Perform pap smears, pelvic, and breast exams.
- Conduct mood and emotional well-being assessments during post-partum appointment.
- Offering family planning services.
- Collaborate and consult with other medical and non-medical personnel.
- Effectively monitor patients progress throughout treatment plan and care and provide continuous improvement on patient outcomes.
- Providing comprehensive reproductive health care throughout a women's life, including prenatal care, childbirth and menopause management.
- Educate patients on importance of treatment plans and communicate side effects and risk of medications prescribed.
- Educate patients on disease prevention and reproductive health.
- Demonstrate effective and detailed written documentation skills.
- Conduct routine check-up appointments and maintain follow up throughout patients' care.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication with patients.
- Able to multitask and manage assigned projects and tasks as directed.
The OCVAMC is located in Oklahoma City, OK and is the Flagship for the Oklahoma VA Health Care System (OCVAHCS) - a Joint Commission accredited, referral level 1b (medium complexity) facility. The Cardiology department serves patients across the spectrum of inpatient and outpatient care for more than 70,000 veterans in an area that includes 48 counties in Oklahoma and 2 counties in North Central Texas. Full-time, Monday-Friday 08:00-4:30

Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- Board Certified is preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be considered. Additional board certification in Internal Medicine is preferred. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
The starting pay is $315,000 - $400,000 per year.
- A recruitment incentive may be offered, and there is the potential for an annual performance bonus of up to $15,000.
- Retirement: Federal Retirement Plan through the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) - A three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) FERS-FRAE basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan, with up to 5% government matching contributions
