Physician-On-Site Health Center Position Summary

We are seeking a physician leader to oversee and guide all aspects of on-site health center operations within a dynamic industrial/plant environment. This role combines direct patient care, operational leadership, workplace health and safety initiatives, emergency response management, regulatory compliance, and strategic collaboration with business leaders to support the overall health and wellbeing of the workforce.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership capabilities, excellent clinical judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments including HR, Safety, Labor Relations, Industrial Hygiene, and Ergonomics.

Key Responsibilities Health Center Operations Oversight
  • Provide overall leadership and operational oversight for the site Health Center, including management, staffing, compliance, and program administration
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and regularly meet with Nurse Supervisors to review operational concerns, staffing, patient care, and business partner issues
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and ORM requirements
  • Conduct Health Center Self-Assessments and serve as ORM Approver for the site
  • Ensure completion of all required qualification and surveillance examinations
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA requirements including bloodborne pathogen protocols and injury/illness reporting
  • Oversee quality assurance for medical care delivery and medical record documentation
  • Approve timekeeping and perform or delegate Nurse Supervisor duties as needed
  • Manage complex employee and staff issues, including represented workforce grievance processes and labor negotiations
Leadership & Team Development
  • Support and manage direct reports through performance evaluations, compensation planning, and development processes
  • Coach, mentor, and develop medical staff
  • Ensure training completion for nursing staff, including onboarding and licensure requirements
  • Encourage and support annual Individual Development Plans (IDPs)
  • Serve as Hiring Manager for medical leadership vacancies as needed
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat occupational and non-occupational illnesses and injuries
  • Conduct medical surveillance and qualification examinations
  • Provide higher-level medical determinations when required
  • Complete Fitness for Duty (FFD) examinations
  • Participate in disability and workers compensation case management, including peer-to-peer reviews and return-to-work evaluations
Business Partnership & Plant Integration
  • Provide medical expertise and consultation to management, HR, Safety, Labor Relations, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, and other business partners
  • Maintain visibility and engagement on the plant floor through walk throughs and ergonomic placement activities
  • Participate in key site meetings including PSRB, Ergo, Hearing, HMCC, DIP, and related committees
Emergency Response Oversight
  • Lead and oversee the site Emergency Response Program and First Responder Program
  • Review and approve annual emergency response plans
  • Conduct and evaluate emergency drills and mock response exercises
  • Review all emergency response incidents and implement corrective actions as appropriate
Wellness & Wellbeing
  • Support site wellness initiatives including Wellness Committees and LifeSteps programs
  • Promote employee health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives across the organization
Qualifications Required Qualifications
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree
  • Board Certification in Occupational Medicine preferred; Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine also acceptable
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in the applicable State(s) of practice
  • Minimum of five (5) years of plant medical and supervisory experience
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to lead change and work effectively in a cross-functional environment
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities
