Job Requirements

• Board-Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C)
• At least 2 years of cardiothoracic or cardiac surgery experience
• Endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) experience required
• ACLS and BLS certification required
• Iowa Physician Assistant license required; candidates who can obtain licensure before the start date may be considered
• Availability for the scheduled coverage blocks and on-call commitments
• Clean malpractice history and background screening
• Recent self-query NPDB report within 30 days

Responsibilities

• Provide cardiothoracic and cardiac surgery coverage during clinic and call shifts
• Support weekday clinic hours, night call, and weekend on-call coverage
• Assist with cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH)
• Deliver perioperative, pre-operative, and post-operative patient support
• Collaborate closely with the surgical team to maintain smooth patient flow and high-quality care
• Contribute to a cardiothoracic surgery program that averages approximately 125 coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) cases per year
