ATC West Healthcare is seeking a Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) physician to provide locum coverage across multiple Richmond-area facilities during an ongoing recruitment period. This role combines office-based and inpatient care with a strong emphasis on managing high-risk pregnancies, working within a collaborative two-provider model supported by an NP and a multidisciplinary team.

Providers must be able to commit to 1 2 weeks of coverage per month on an ongoing basis and will rotate between clinic locations in Richmond and Midlothian.

Schedule Details:

  • Office and inpatient coverage
  • Providers rotate between Richmond and Midlothian clinic sites (approximately 30 minutes apart)
  • Ongoing commitment of 1 2 weeks per month required
Job Details & Responsibilities

Practice Information:

  • Reason for coverage: Recruitment support
  • Average patient volume: 27 scheduled patients per day
  • Staffing model: Two-provider service line
  • One Nurse Practitioner rotates between sites

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and manage predominantly high-risk pregnancies
  • Provide office consultations and inpatient MFM coverage
  • Rotate between designated clinic locations
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary support teams

High-Risk Pregnancy Focus Areas:

  • Pre-eclampsia
  • Multiple gestations
  • Fetal growth restriction
  • Chromosomal abnormalities
  • Congenital anomalies
  • Preterm labor
  • Hypertension
  • Thrombophilia
  • Genetic disorders
  • Birth defects
  • Complex maternal and fetal comorbidities

Required Procedures/Skill Sets:

  • Amniocentesis
  • Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS)
  • Cerclage (preferred)
  • Vaginal delivery management
  • Cesarean delivery management

Practice Environment:

  • 95% high-risk pregnancies
  • 5% low-risk pregnancies
  • Level III nursery
  • 3 exam rooms
  • On-site ultrasound available
  • No on-site laboratory

Support Staff:

  • Nurse clinic educator
  • Sonographer
  • Genetic counselor
  • Front office team
  • Rotating Nurse Practitioner

Technology:

  • EMR: Epic and ViewPoint
  • Ultrasound equipment: GE 10
Required Skills & Qualifications

Required:

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Maternal Fetal Medicine
  • Completion of Maternal Fetal Medicine fellowship
  • Active Virginia medical license
  • BLS certification
  • Ability to provide 1 2 weeks of coverage per month on an ongoing basis
  • Submission to all three job postings (65643, 65644, and 65645)
  • Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation

Preferred:

  • AIUM Certification

Credentialing Information:

  • Estimated credentialing timeframe: 90 days
