Surgery - Neurosurgery Physician Assistant

We are seeking an experienced Neurosurgery Physician Assistant for a long-term locum opportunity beginning as soon as credentialed. This position offers a mix of OR, clinic, and inpatient responsibilities within a collaborative neurosurgery team.

Assignment Details

• Start Date: June 2026
• One-year assignment
• Extension potential available

Schedule

• Monday Friday
• 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
• No required call
• Optional paid call available

Practice Setting

• Hospital-based Neurosurgery service
• OR, Clinic, and Inpatient responsibilities
• Epic EMR

Clinical Responsibilities

• First Assist in Neurosurgical procedures
• Clinic evaluations and follow-up care
• Inpatient rounding
• Post-operative patient management
• Surgical wound care

Procedures Required

• First assisting in surgery
• Wound closure and suturing
• Wound aspirations
• Other minor bedside procedures

Case Mix

• Approximately 80% Spine Surgery
• Approximately 20% Cranial Neurosurgery
• Broad neurosurgical case exposure

Surgical Volume

• Approximately 5 7 surgeries per week

Support Structure

• Three Neurosurgery physicians onsite
• Additional APP coverage for evenings and weekends
• Formal handoff process in place
• Collaborative team environment

Requirements

• Physician Assistant
• Neurosurgery experience strongly preferred
• First Assist experience required
• Comfortable with spine and cranial neurosurgical cases

Credentialing

• Expedited credentialing available due to urgent need
• Standard credentialing approximately 120 days
