We are currently seeking a licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/ Physician Assistant (PA) to work collaboratively with our Rheumatology Department.

Requirements include:

  • Current Connecticut State APRN/PA License
  • Rheumatology experience preferred

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis and lupus.
  • Duties include conducting physical exams, ordering and interpreting lab tests and imaging, prescribing medications, and educating patients about disease management and lifestyle modifications.
  • Collaborate closely with rheumatologists and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate individualized treatment plans.
  • Assist with in-office procedures, such as joint injections or aspirations, and provide ongoing follow-up care to monitor disease progression and treatment effectiveness.
  • Prescribe medications, including disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), biologics, and corticosteroids, in accordance with evidence-based guidelines
  • Monitor the effectiveness of treatments and adjust plans as necessary based on patient response and side effects
  • Provide clear, comprehensive education to patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment options, lifestyle changes, and self-management strategies
  • Chronic Disease Management:
    • Monitor and manage long-term follow-up for patients with chronic rheumatologic conditions, ensuring appropriate screening and preventative care
    • Address flare-ups and complications promptly, adjusting management plans as needed
  • Experience or interest in caring for patients with complex rheumatologic conditions, disease-modifying therapies, and evolving treatment paradigms is highly valued.
