Neonatal Physician Assistant Opportunity
Position Overview
An established Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to provide inpatient neonatal care as part of a collaborative NICU team. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside neonatologists and specialized neonatal staff in a high-acuity environment caring for critically ill newborns.
Orientation: $65/hr
Hourly: $130/hr
Holiday: $200/hr
Holiday: $200/hr
Schedule
Start Date: July 2026
Ongoing coverage need
Day Shift: 7:00 AM 7:30 PM
Night Shift: 7:00 PM 7:30 AM
Flexible scheduling based on unit needs
Practice Setting
Inpatient Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Level III NICU)
Level I Trauma Center
EMR: Epic
Physician-supervised practice model
Clinical Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive care for neonatal patients in the NICU
Attend high-risk deliveries
Perform neonatal resuscitation
Evaluate, diagnose, and manage neonatal conditions
Collaborate with neonatologists and multidisciplinary care teams
Document patient care using Epic EMR
Required Procedures
Delivery Room Attendance
Neonatal Resuscitation
PICC Line Placement
Umbilical Line Placement
Needle Aspiration
Chest Tube Placement
Patient Population
Neonates
Average patient volume: patients per APP per day
Practice Environment
Physician supervision available onsite
Team-based care model
APPs do not practice independently
Opportunity to work in a specialized neonatal critical care setting
Qualifications
Board Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
Active Michigan License
Current NRP Advanced Provider or Instructor Status
Neonatal experience required
New graduates will not be considered
Additional Information
Coverage need due to staffing changes within the NICU program
Credentialing timeframe approximately 120+ days
Travel assistance available for qualifying providers
Ideal Candidate
Experienced Physician Assistant with NICU or neonatal critical care experience
Skilled in neonatal procedures and resuscitation
Comfortable working in a collaborative, physician-supervised environment
Strong clinical assessment and critical care management skills
