Overview
Provide direct nursing care in a clinical setting under RN or physician supervision. Deliver safe, patient-centered care, document accurately, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support positive outcomes.
Minimum Requirements
- Active, valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) state license
- BLS certification
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments (vital signs, focused physical exams, medication review) and contribute to individualized care planning.
- Administer medications, IV fluids and medications, and treatments according to orders and facility protocols; ensure accurate dosing and documentation.
- Provide wound care: evaluate, clean, dress, and monitor for signs of infection or complications.
- Monitor and record vital signs and changes in patient condition; maintain clear, timely clinical documentation.
- Manage urinary catheters (insertion, maintenance, monitoring) and collect specimens (blood, urine, sputum) for lab testing.
- Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, self-care, and preventive measures.
- Support patient comfort and safety: mobility assistance, positioning, pain management, and basic nursing procedures.
- Respond to emergencies with appropriate interventions and basic life support as needed.
- Follow infection control practices and proper use/disposal of medications and supplies.
- Advocate for patients and coordinate care with RNs, physicians, therapists, CNAs, and other staff; may supervise CNAs/UAPs when assigned.
- Maintain professional development by staying current with nursing practices, regulations, and required training.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
