Do you have experience in the food manufacturing industry? If so, then this opportunity is for you. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position where you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations within our food manufacturing facility. With your expertise, you will help us maintain our commitment to providing safe, high-quality food products while also protecting our employees and the environment. Responsibilities: KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Quality Control & Assurance Develop, implement, and continuously improve QC programs, SOPs, and quality management systems for all production processes Conduct routine product inspections, raw material sampling, and finished goods testing to ensure compliance with internal and customer specifications Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes for quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conformances Maintain and oversee laboratory operations, testing equipment calibration, and analytical records Manage supplier qualification and incoming material approval programs in partnership with procurement Coordinate third-party lab testing, audits, and product certifications as required Environmental Health & Safety Design, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS programs including hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident prevention strategies Ensure facility compliance with OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations Lead safety training programs, toolbox talks, and emergency response drills for all facility personnel Investigate workplace incidents and near-misses; implement corrective measures and track safety KPIs Maintain all required EHS documentation, permits, logs, and regulatory reporting Champion a proactive safety culture through employee engagement, recognition programs, and continuous improvement initiatives Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance Serve as the primary point of contact for food safety compliance, including HACCP plan development and maintenance, FSMA regulations, and SQF or equivalent food safety certification programs Manage and prepare for regulatory inspections (FDA, state agriculture departments) and third-party food safety audits Maintain Current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) across all production and warehouse areas Oversee allergen control programs, sanitation verification, and environmental monitoring programs Stay current with changes in food safety regulations and proactively update internal programs accordingly Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration Lead and mentor a team of QC technicians and EHS coordinators, fostering professional growth and accountability Collaborate closely with production, operations, logistics, and procurement teams to embed quality and safety into daily workflows Report EHS and quality metrics to executive leadership and provide data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement Support new product launches and process changes with appropriate quality and safety review REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 7+ years of experience in quality control, food safety, or EHS management within a food manufacturing or food production environment Demonstrated expertise in HACCP plan development, FSMA compliance, and food safety program management PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification required Thorough working knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, and GMP standards Proven track record managing regulatory inspections and third-party food safety audits (SQF, BRC, FSSC 22000, or equivalent) Experience leading and developing QC or EHS teams Strong proficiency in documentation, data analysis, and quality management systems Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Environmental Health & Safety, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field Must be willing and able to travel once per quarter for cross-site collaboration and leadership meetings PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS SQF Practitioner certification or equivalent food safety scheme expertise Experience in specialty food, oils, imports, or commodity-based product manufacturing Familiarity with international food safety standards and import/export compliance requirements OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 45001 or equivalent EHS management systems Bilingual proficiency in English and Italian is a plus, not required Interested in hearing more?
