Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician Assistant

Locums - Silverdale, Washington, NP/PA Cardiothoracic Surgery Opening

Start Date:As soon as credentialed

Assignment Duration:6-9 months

Schedule Details:Monday-Friday

Includes call coverage:

1-2 weekday call shifts1-2 weekend call shifts

Night call begins at 5:00 PM and ends at 7:00 AM

FTE:1.0

Reason for Coverage:Current APP has retired

Practice Setting:Hospital 95%Office/Clinic 5%

Patient Population:100% Adult

Patient Volume:

5-10 hospital patients per day

Admissions: 0-3 per day

ICU Census: 2-7 patients

Surgeries: 1-2 per day

Responsibilities:

Assist in the operating room

Manage cardiothoracic surgery patients in the acute care setting

Manage cardiothoracic surgery patients in the ICU

Participate in rounding

Provide clinic support as needed

Provider must be able to practice at full capacity and function across the entire cardiothoracic surgery service line

Required Experience:

Cardiothoracic Surgery experience

Operating Room experience

Experience managing cardiothoracic surgery patients in both acute care and ICU settings

Required Procedures:

General Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery - Open

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery - On Pump

Valvular Repair

Valvular Replacement

Preferred Procedures:

Cardiac Aneurysm Repair

Aorto-Thoracic Aneurysm Repair

Lung Resection (including VATS)

Chest Wall Procedures

Pleural Procedures

Left Ventricular Assist Devices

Ventilation Management

Evaluation and Management of Acute Volume/Blood Pressure Issues

Central Line Insertion

Procedures Not Required:

General Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery - Endoscopic

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery - Off Pump

Congenital Defect Repairs (ASD, VSD, PFO, etc.)

Esophagus and Diaphragm Surgery

Permanent Pacemaker Placement

AICD Placement

Bronchoscopy

Arterial Line Placement

PA Catheter Placement

IABP

Support Staff:

RN Navigators

Medical Assistants

Practice Structure:

2 Physicians

4 Advanced Practice Providers

EMR:EPIC

Requirements:

Certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - Required

Washington License - Highly Preferred

Will consider candidates willing to obtain Washington licensure during credentialing

Clean Malpractice and Background History - Highly Preferred

Local candidates with no flight requirements - Highly Preferred
