Position Summary

The facility is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join its Critical Care team in Dothan, Alabama.

This position offers the opportunity to provide advanced critical care services in a high-acuity intensive care environment. The Nurse Practitioner will work collaboratively with intensivists, hospitalists, specialists, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to manage critically ill patients requiring complex medical care.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, performance of critical care procedures, management of acute and chronic conditions, and participation in multidisciplinary rounds. The provider will play an essential role in delivering evidence-based, patient-centered care within the ICU setting.

Essential Position Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit

Develop, implement, and manage treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians and intensivists

Perform histories, physical examinations, and ongoing patient evaluations

Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests, imaging studies, and diagnostic procedures

Manage ventilator-dependent patients and patients requiring advanced hemodynamic monitoring

Perform procedures within scope of practice and credentialing guidelines, including arterial lines, central venous access, and other critical care procedures as applicable

Respond to medical emergencies, rapid response calls, and code situations

Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate care plans

Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans and prognosis

Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)

Collaborate with consultants, specialists, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes

Qualifications

Education

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Licensure & Certification

Current Nurse Practitioner certification (ACNP, AGACNP, FNP, or equivalent as applicable)

Eligible for or holding an active Alabama Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license

Current Alabama Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain

Current DEA registration or eligibility to obtain

Current BLS certification required

Current ACLS certification required

Experience

Critical Care, ICU, Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Acute Care experience preferred

Acute Care Nurse Practitioner certification strongly preferred

New graduates with significant ICU nursing experience may be considered

Strong clinical decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills required
