ATC West Healthcare is seeking a locum OB/GYN Laborist to provide ongoing inpatient labor and delivery coverage due to staffing shortages among employed physicians and midwives. This hospital-based position focuses on managing labor and delivery patients, supporting midwife coverage, and providing emergency gynecologic care for unassigned patients. Coverage is needed as soon as possible and will continue until permanent providers are hired.
Dates & Schedule- Start Date: As soon as credentialed
- Duration: Ongoing until additional physicians and midwives are hired
- Physician Schedule: 7:00 AM 7:00 PM
- Midwife Schedule: 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- Call Coverage: Physician provides backup call coverage for the midwife from 7:00 PM 7:00 AM
- Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 120 days

Coverage Team
- Current staff includes one full-time laborist physician and one full-time laborist midwife
- Additional support from other OB/GYN and CNM providers
- APP support available
- Clinical support from RNs and Certified Nurse Midwives
Clinical Responsibilities
- Manage low-risk and high-risk obstetric patients
- Provide labor and delivery coverage, including:
- Vaginal deliveries
- Operative vaginal deliveries (low forceps)
- Cesarean section decision-making and performance
- Management of breech presentations, multiple births, placental abruptions, and other complicated deliveries
- VBAC management
- Repair of third- and fourth-degree lacerations
- Provide emergency gynecologic coverage for unassigned patients presenting through the ER
- Perform gynecologic procedures, including:
- Diagnostic and minor laparoscopic procedures
- Tubal ligations
- Lysis of adhesions (LOA)
- Chromotubation
- Open gynecologic surgery
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Active Ohio medical license or willingness to obtain one
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification
- Current PALS certification
- Experience managing both routine and high-risk obstetric cases
- Proficiency in vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, VBACs, and obstetric emergencies
- Ability to perform required gynecologic surgical procedures
- Self-Query NPDB report dated within 30 days of presentation
Preferred
- Experience working in a laborist or hospital-based OB/GYN setting
- Familiarity with Epic EMR
- Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, midwives, APPs, and nursing staff in a Level III nursery environment.
